Decorating Candles with no need to wrap

Hi there crafters
i have been experimenting
with candles again
and to be honest with you im blown away!!!
 the magic is
Stick and Spray
from
yes that's right no kidding
i did get good results heating the candles with a wrap
of greased proof paper but holding it in place was a nightmare
it kept slipping which you don't want

so today i got out my candles
stamps embossing powder  and played...
i did 6 candles in just under 12 minutes got quite a little production line going on lol
everyone perfect no runs no pitting or dimples
It's so darn easy
with the stick and spray
i have taken some pictures of each step
in case you might like to try it for your selves

Step 1
heat emboss your stamped image onto tissue paper

Step 2

cut around your image not to close keeping your edges curved if you can to get a softer effect
Flip over your image over give it a quick light blast of Stick and Spray
you don't need a lot a fine mist will work brilliantly

there is no rush it will stay tacky for quite a while
just let the spray agent evaporate  like you would if you use if for stamping

Step 3

place your image right side up onto your candle and smooth out with your finger tips
you can re-position at any time as i said no rush
make sure there are  no bubbles or creases in the tissue paper
and heat set the image
Making sure your heat gun is moving at all times

you will clearly see the wax melting through the tissue
you move to another area

once it was all done  but still warm
i rolled the candle onto some grease proof paper to make sure all the edges were in cased in wax
but really i didn't need to
as i said everyone worked perfectly
here is the finished candle ready to decorate
honestly do try it with the stick and spray
Brilliant stuff
Magic in my eyes
your able to hold the candle while your heating too
with the greased proof paper i felt i couldn't see the wax clearly melting
this way you have no fear of that it's happening there right in front of you
i had no problems heating the image that had the stick and spray onto my candle
no fumes or any such thing at all

i was in full control at all times doing it this way
didn't feel like that using the greased proof wrap that's for sure
i do like to be safe when im crafting

here is one of the other candles that  i made this morning
decorated all ready to give as a gift

PS: just added a picture of the Stick and Spay
you need
i type in the wrong product name  earlier
so sorry
don't want to miss lead anyone

Faux Tile Effect with Distressing Markers

Goodness me im so late today
so what have i been playing with
the new Sheena Douglass Stamps that are Launched today
Tim Holts Distressing Markers and Embossing powders

P1050166
I used water colour paper ,centrua pearl  and core-dination from
if you would like to try making a Faux  Tile Effect
draw a grid in pencil on  your water colour card fill in with 3 colours from same colour family
i used  mustard seed spiced marmalade and barn door
colour in your blocks  then spritz with water   so that your colours start to bend
when it’s nearly dry go over your lines with fine tip in forest moss
it will bleed slightly  but that gives you some depth then leave it to dry completely
i over stamped using Sheena’s Silhouette of the highland in  versa fine  watermark ink pad with  a white glitter embossing powder
matted onto core-dination card  onto a 8x8 centrua pearl card blank added a few crystal dew drops
have ago its great fun

Template and tutorial for letter rack

Sorry in advance for the long post
i had no idea how to explain how i made my
 letter rack
P1050126

this example is made from A4 card with 2 letter slots
if you want to make a 3 slot letter rack  like the picture above you will need 16" x 16" Card

FROM A4 CARD STOCK
YOU WILL NEED
5 A4 pieces of card scissors  dies stamps decorations of your choice and wet glue
i used Collall all purpose glue
from
Crafters Companion

CUT 2  pieces of card  7" x 11-3/4" for front and back panels
CUT 2 PICES OF CARD 2" x 11-3/4" for side panels and score full length at 3/4” in on both pieces
if you use a die to shape the top as i have done
you will have to adjust the side panels accordingly i rounded the corners on mine .
and CUT to fit you can use any large die shape

i have used paper for this tutorial

print out the image below for  letter compartments cut out 2
P1050129
i decorated my pieces before i assembled  with patterned papers
it was far easier that way
Assembly of letter rack
Step 1
P1050130
i have used  double sided tape for this tutorial
wet glue is recommended
place glue on bottom flap  1 on inside and one on reverse side of top  compartment
glue compartments in place 1 at a time
Step 2
P1050133
attach the bottom compartment to base of you front wrapping the flap to the back
turn it over and place little pencil marks either side of your compartments  at the straight edge
this will give you a guide line where to place the second compartment
Step 3
P1050134
the second flap gets stuck down directly onto you front panel
Step 4

P1050135
now place glue on the inside of your thin tabs wrapping round as in picture
and attach to the back of front panel do this on both sides
Step 5
P1050137
place glue down full length of 3/4 section of your side pieces
attach to  back side of you front panel on both sides
Step 6
P1050139
now glue the triangle part  of your letter compartments to your side panels
as in picture
glue your  back panel over the backside of your front panel to hide all the joins and neaten up your letter rack
decorate till your hearts content….
for 3 slot letter rack you will need 16" card stock
the width on all pieces stay the same through out

i hope i have explained it clearly enough
for you to try it your self
if your not sure cut out the pieces from copy paper first and follow the steps of the assembly
it's not hard to do just darn hard to explain...

if you do make one and share on net or your blog
please be so kind as to link back to my blog

Humphrey Mobile with template

P1040217

i saw a mobile which was truly stunning while visiting some of the blogs i follow
just knew i had to try and make one.... this is my take on the idea
sorry about the image being dark it was taken very late at night and trying to get the little image to stop spinning was a fete in it's self
i have added my template  at the bottom of this post if you would like to try one
get  everything ready before hand the assembly is very quick

i used the thick A4 grey card the sort you get at back of a writing pad you only need 1 sheet
i painted mine with Acrylic paint  it makes it very strong
of coarse i had to  use the new
Humphrey stamp  from Crafters Companion
as my main element
the stars are  the smallest X Cut dies
i used invisible  double length of thread  for the arms and sandwiched that  between the stars that were all cut from core-dination card
decorated the top with more stars  flowers gems and some cut glass glitter

  my template
print out @ A4

little ballerina in black

P1040162
good afternoon everyone
well i should have been sorting out my craft room i did  go in there and found this little image
just waiting to be coloured in !!
which i did with Spectrum noir pens from Crafters Companion
on the stamp it will have a basket to the side but i didn’t want that so rubbed it off
if you used a cotton bud to take off the ink from your stamp carefully  it shouldn’t  transfer the bits you don’t want
i have remembered to make a colour list if you would like to try her
im assuming you got your order in lol and are stalking the postie for there arrival.
I thought i would share her before i added the cut glass glitter to her dress
Colour list i used
Skin…TN1…TN2…TN3…CR1
Hair…GB3…TN5…EB4
Dress…IG4…IG7…IG10…with a tiny touch of black in darkest parts

Biscornu pin cushion cut on e craft

P1030893
Good morning all
been experimenting with fabric again on E Craft
i wanted to see how the E Craft would cope with small sizes and shapes in fabric i should have known !
it cut a dream!!!!
using the same  method as i did with padded heart  and freezer paper using fundamental 1 square design
i cut 2 x  2-1/2” squares to make my mini Biscornu pin cushion
once i had removed the freezer paper i pressed in a small turnover  for seam hand stitched together  filled it with toy stuffing
add the buttons to both sides
this was the smallest size i could hand sew together
it measures just under 1-3/4” finished

P1030887P1030889P1030890
image 1                               image 2                                                image 3
Hello Everyone
i have been very busy here since Christmas had no time to craft as you all know
but
so wanted to try out the E Craft on  scrap fabric
i got a chance to play today
Image 1…..  100% Cotton Fabric nothing else no interfacing
image 2….. the fabric sandwiched between 2 pieces of Freezer Paper  that i ironed on to fabric to give it some stability i hope you can see how clean it cut !  it did a fabulous job
set the heart shape from fundamental 1 card to 4” no tabs on Pressure 8
it cut a dream !!!! no snagging  a hot knife through butter springs to mind.
 im really impressed
image 3……. is the final result with freezer paper removed  you just pull it off so easy  my brain has gone into over drive lol im thinking applique for quilts just imagine   team that with the fabric spray from crafters companion  a marriage made in heaven ...
just  hand sewing the 2 pieces together at moment will take a picture of finished  project  later

a little video from Sheena

how to create a picture with the new Sheena Douglass lake side stamps

how to create a  picture for your home
with the new sketchy stamps from Sheena
this is a 8" x10"
as you will see i have cut a piece of water colour card  larger than the size i need then with  bog standard masking tape i made a frame to the required size that fits the mount in the frame
make sure you stick it firmly down  on the inside edges so that the water colours don't bleed under but really this wont matter as it will be covered by a mount

right here goes
starting nearly at the top of the paper
as you can see i have used the mountains for my distance i stamped it twice  don't worry about the join you will be painting over it
i used versa fine smokey grey ink   for my water coloured images it's softer than black and takes the water colours paints very well if you  heat set  it...

middle distance
now i stamped the tree set on the left

yet again building up the scene
your going to think hello!!!!  they don't work  but hold your horses it will all come together

forground
then with the separate branch image  i added more to the top of the tree
now get your pencil yep a simple pencil!!!!and join it all together
see  the image below

 see it does work!!
just extend the tree  at the base and at the top of the tree
then again  the land with the group of trees and add some extra clumps of grass
your now ready to start painting
i hope you will try this it would make a fantastic gift  for anyone  once framed
have a great day
